John Horse

The early Black Revolutionaries didn't get songs written about them or tall tales. in fact, slave revolts in America still remain a sensitive topic in cocktail conversations. Instead of docile and slow talking stereotypes, the average African slave, male and female, was more likely a fierce captive who you had to watch day and night. Many Africans escaped and joined the Native populations who were suffering numerous indignities from white Europeans. John Horse lead one of the most devastating slave revolts in the country. In January 1999, the African American Civil War  Museum opened to the public.
